Cowboys Saints NFL Preview
The New Orleans Saints have performed at a high level in the 2014 NFL preseason

Baltimore is 3-0 SUATS in the 2014 preseason, as it comes off a 23-17 victory over the Washington Redskins as 2.5-point home favorites last week, while going UNDER the betting total in two of three opportunities.  The Ravens rank first in the league in averaging 156.7 rushing yards per game during exhibition play, which can’t be ignored when making your Week 1 NFL predictions.  On the defensive side of the ball, the unit ranks second in allowing just 264 total yards per game.

The Ravens have four players fighting for two available wide receiver spots, with Michael Campanaro and Kamar Aiken seemingly having the edge.  Baltimore is also trying to establish a pecking order at cornerback, with newly signed Derek Cox expected to play Thursday night.  For the past two games, Chykie Brown and Dominique Franks have started and rookie safety Terrence Brooks has worked at nickel back.

New Orleans also owns a perfect 3-0 SUATS record, but it has actually been out-gained by 18 total yards in the process, while the OVER has cashed in two of three affairs.  The Saints are still trying to figure out their backup quarterback behind Drew Brees, with Ryan Griffin and Luke McCown battling it out.  Griffin’s expected to take a majority of the snaps at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, but head coach Sean Payton hasn’t ruled out a series or two for Brees.

The Saints still have a handful of starting jobs up for grabs, with the center position and cornerback spots still competitive in nature.  New Orleans suffered a 21-6 home loss to Baltimore in the only previous preseason meeting between these teams in 2005, while it has fallen in defeat in four of five regular-season affairs.

Sports bettors will likely back the Saints due to Payton’s 21-11 ATS mark during his career before the start of the regular season, while the Ravens are 1-6 ATS in their last seven games after a double-digit ATS win.
