Week 1 NFL Lines
The week 1 nfl betting lines are posted with thoughts of the games as well
The NFL regular season kicks off this Thursday night when the New Orleans Saints begin their championship defense at home against the Minnesota Vikings. The game is a rematch of last year’s NFC title game, which the Saints won in overtime. The Saints looked good in the preseason. Drew Brees is an elite quarterback, and Reggie Bush might be ready to have his break-out season this year. For the Vikings, Brett Favre is back for his final season yet again. Sage Rosenfels was traded to the New York Giants, which means Tavaris Jackson is the established backup should Favre fall to injury. After the way the Saints went after Favre last year, that scenario is certainly a possibility. The absence of Sidney Rice is a big loss for Minnesota. The public likes the Saints at nearly 4:1. As you can see on our NFL betting lines page – or the table below – the line opened with New Orleans favored by 4 ½ points. Most books have stayed there, though a couple have moved up to 5 points.

1. New Orleans Saints – The champs looked good in the preseason. Drew Brees leads one of the League’s elite offenses. The defense should be good enough. The Super Bowl will take place in Dallas, but the road goes through New Orleans.

Minnesota Vikings Football
A Healthy Favre is the key to the Minnesota Vikings Staying on Top of the North
The NFC North has two clear-cut favorites, and two interesting teams. The Packers and Vikings should be fighting for the division title, but don’t underestimate the Bears and an improved Lions team. They used the No. 1 pick in 2009 on a promising quarterback, and their 2010 No. 2 pick on a defensive playmaker.
They are young, but they have the talent to surprise. The division might be more open than a quick glance at the teams makes you think.

Maddux Sports thinks the New York Giants offer great value on the NFC East odds
The NFC East will have several interesting story lines this season, the biggest arguably coming with the intra-division trade of Donovan McNabb. The Eagles will face their former star quarterback twice, and are looking to improve despite trading McNabb and cutting Brian Westbrook. The Cowboys are looking to repeat their division title, and the Giants are looking to bounce back from a disappointing 8-8 finish after a promising 5-0 start.
