Last night you witnessed one of the dangers of betting on the NIT with South Carolina taking on Florida State in Tallahassee. The problem for Florida State last night was they flat out did not want to be playing in that game. This team had a chip on their shoulder about being left out of the NCAA Tournament, but it was the wrong kind of chip that you don't want your money on and you must learn to spot these situations when NIT handicapping.

They flat out did not show up and it was obvious. I mean this is a team that beat Duke at home and they flunk out to South Carolina on their home court. I know South Carolina is playing well right now but the astute bettor has to recognize the difference in the two teams. South Carolina wants to be in this tournament and they want to win it. They are grateful to still be playing. It is just the opposite for the Seminoles. This team was upset about not making the tournament when they felt they were one of the best 65 teams in college basketball. Instead of taking it out on their opponents, they simply packed in. You have to keep your eye on teams like this and go against them. You also have to acknowledge teams that are still playing hard and playing like they are happy to be in the NIT. That is the key to winning in this racket and having a succesful NIT handicapping close to your season.
