Dolphins Cowboys NFL Betting Preview
Reggie Bush and the Dolphins will try to cover the spread for the fifth straight game.

Two of the hottest teams in the NFL will meet on Thanksgiving Day in Dallas, but bettors and fans alike would have never considered one of them in that category through the first seven games.  The Miami Dolphins (3-7) and Cowboys (6-4) will both be going for their fourth consecutive victory on Thursday, and one of them will have an opportunity to cover the spread in five straight.

The Dolphins are the team that has rebounded nicely following an 0-7 start, also going 0-6-1 against the spread to begin the season.  They can cover their fifth game in a row by staying within a touchdown of Dallas (-7, O/U 44).

Quarterback Matt Moore has played well for Miami during the winning streak, throwing six touchdown passes and only one interception.  But he is not the only offensive player who has thrived lately.  Running back Reggie Bush has also stepped up with 274 rushing yards and four touchdowns in the past four games.

Defensively, the Dolphins have played more like sharks recently, giving up an NFL-low 6.7 points – without allowing a touchdown – and 72.7 rushing yards per game in their last three.  They will look to slow down the top back in the league over the past five weeks, as rookie DeMarco Murray has totaled 674 yards during that stretch for the Cowboys.

Dallas QB Tony Romo has never lost a Thanksgiving game with a perfect 4-0 mark, throwing 12 touchdowns and just two interceptions in those games.  He has also been pick-free during his team’s current three-game winning streak.  However, the Cowboys have not been overly impressive over the last month, going 1-4 ATS with the lone cover coming in a 44-7 rout of Buffalo at home on November 13.

The Dolphins are coming off a 35-8 rout of the Bills last week, with the lone touchdown scored by the opposition coming on a blocked punt.  Rookie RB Daniel Thomas led them with 50 yards rushing on 15 carries while Bush added 32 on 15 attempts.

Miami has dropped three of the past four meetings with Dallas dating back to 1996 both straight-up and ATS.  Two of those games took place on Thanksgiving with the teams splitting them.  The OVER has cashed in the last two and is 11-3 in the past 14 home games for the Cowboys.  However, the UNDER is 8-0-1 for the Dolphins in their last nine games overall.
