New Orleans picked up a 35-17 victory over the Buffalo Bills as 10.5-point home favorites last Sunday, while going OVER the betting total for a second consecutive week.  The Saints are traveling to the northeast to close out their 2013 AFC East slate, which is important to consider when making your NFL expert picks in Week 9.  Offensively, quarterback Drew Brees continues to put up incredible numbers, as he ranks third in the league with a 109.2 passer rating.  New Orleans is 6-2 SUATS in November the last two-plus seasons, with the UNDER going 5-3 in that situation.

The Saints have improved a great deal on the defensive end from a year ago, as the unit has held six of its last seven opponents under 20 points.  New Orleans is allowing just 17.1 points per game, which is far different than a team that allowed a league-record 7,042 yards last season.  “It’s a highly motivated group,” commented defensive coordinator Rob Ryan, who is 0-4 against his brother Rex as either coordinators or head coaches.

New York has alternated wins and losses over its first eight games of the 2013 NFL season, as it looks to bounce back from a 49-9 blowout loss to the Cincinnati Bengals as six-point road underdogs, while going OVER the betting total for the fifth time in six contests.  The Jets need rookie quarterback Geno Smith to be more consistent on a weekly basis, as he’s thrown 13 interceptions and been sacked 28 times.  Those numbers are alarming when going against an opponent that is fourth in the league with a plus-eight turnover differential and paces the NFC with 3.4 sacks per game.  New York is 0-3 SUATS at home with a betting total of 45.5 to 49 points the last two-plus seasons.

The Jets need to revert back to their ground-and-pound attack offensively, considering the Saints are 32nd in the league in allowing opponents to average 4.83 yards per carry.    New York needs to avoid any costly mistakes, which is tough to defense on as a sports bettor, with the team being minus-12 in turnover margin.

Sports bettors will likely play the total, as the UNDER is 4-1 in the Jets’ last five games after allowing 30 or more points.
