The Alabama Crimson Tide have won nine consecutive games against the Mississippi Rebels

Mississippi is 3-0 for the first time since 1989, as it continues a run of playing four of its first five games on the road.  The Rebels current five-game winning streak is the team’s longest since winning eight in a row from 2008-09, which is important to consider when making your college football expert picks.  The program is 0-9 all-time when taking on the No. 1 team in the nation, as it prepares to play back-to-back years in Tuscaloosa since 1931-32.  Mississippi is 6-5 SUATS in September the last two-plus seasons, with the UNDER going 6-3 in that situation.

The Rebels have played 11 true freshmen thus far in 2013, which is tied for the 10th-most among Division I FBS teams.  Mississippi is going to have a hard time pulling off an upset, considering it has gone 1-12 when playing the defending national champions.    Senior running back Jeff Scott will need to have a huge game, as he ran for a career-high 164 yards against the Texas Longhorns last time out.  He currently ranks fifth in the Southeastern Conference in rushing and sits fourth in all-purpose yards.

Alabama is also off to a perfect 3-0 start this season, as it comes off a 31-6 victory over the Colorado State Rams as 40-point home favorites last Saturday, while going UNDER the betting total of 55.  The Crimson Tide have won the last nine games in this series, outscoring the Rebels by a 248-118 margin, which is important to consider when looking over the college football odds page.  Alabama is is 8-1 SU and 7-2 ATS as a favorite of 10.5 to 21 points the last two-plus seasons, with the OVER going 5-4 in that situation.

The Crimson Tide are 24-7 against ranked opponents over the past six seasons, while they’ve gone 52-0 when rushing for at least 140 yards since the 2008 campaign.  Offensively, the team continues to be led by quarterback AJ McCarron, who ranks first nationally in passing efficiency with a 175.28 mark.

Sports bettors will likely back the Rebels due to their 6-2 ATS mark in the last eight meetings in this series.
