The Denver Nuggets have won the series’ last two games after falling behind 1-2 through three games. The Nuggets won Game 4 by a score of 116-112 and won Game 5 in a 124-98 blowout. Now the Nuggets can close out this series in Portland, but the Trail Blazers are 3.5-point favorites according to NBA oddsmakers at bookmaker 5dimes. The over/under is set at 214 points, and it has gone over that in three consecutive games in this series. The game will tip off at 9:30 CST on ESPN.

Denver’s depth made a tremendous difference in Game 5. The Nuggets got 33 points from its second unit, and the team shot 49.4 percent from the field in the win. The Nuggets got to the line to hit 28 of 31, and it won the battle of the boards 62 to 43. Though Portland committed just six turnovers in the blowout loss, the Blazers also shot just 36.7 percent from the floor and 27 percent from three-point range. Damian Lillard was just 9 of 21 from the field and CJ McCollum was limited to just 5 of 16 shooting.

Denver meanwhile got 24 points from Paul Millsap’s 9 of 16 shooting, and Nikola Jokic was huge as he has been in every game this series, finishing with 25 points, 19 rebounds, and six assists. The Nuggets combo of Jamal Murray and Jokic has been deftly skilled on the perimeter. The pair finished with 15 assists between them, and the Nuggets tallied 26 assists on its 44 made field goals.

Portland got good production again from Rodney Hood and Zach Collins off its bench, but Portland was largely misfiring all game. It has to find a way to get its star-studded backcourt going because a collective 14 of 37 shooting night from Lillard and McCollum will not result in many victories.

Additionally, Al-Farouq Aminu struggled after an outstanding showing in game 4. Game 5 saw Aminu connect on just 1 of 8 from the field while finishing with only four rebounds. The Nuggets adapted to Aminu’s understated brilliance, and it remains to be seen which Aminu Portland sees in Game 6. With the Blazers needing to avoid elimination it should be expected that its key performers come out focused and playing with their backs against the wall. This series likely goes seven after a Blazers’ win tonight.
