Duke’s 4-0 start to the season is the best since the 1994 squad opened the campaign with seven consecutive wins, which is important to consider when making your Week 5 college football picks, as the program has won 12 straight regular season games.  The Blue Devils are one of just seven teams nationally to average 230-plus passing yards and 260-plus rushing yards—joining Arizona State, Indiana, Marshall, Mississippi State, Nebraska and Western Michigan.  Duke is 1-5 SU and 2-4 ATS as underdogs of 3.5 to 10 points the last two-plus seasons.

The Blue Devils have won all 14 of their regular season games with Anthony Boone starting under center, while they’ve managed to outscore opponents by a 83-16 margin in the second half this year.  Duke has an explosive playmaker in running back Shaun Wilson, who has gained 404 yards on just 28 carries this season.  Boone also has a major target in wide receiver Jamison Crowder, who has 220 career catches in 43 contests.

Miami returns home after suffering a disappointing 41-31 defeat to the Nebraska Cornhuskers as 7.5-point road underdogs last Saturday, but it lost the statistical battle by just 21 yards in that matchup.  The Hurricanes have a star in the making in Brad Kaaya, who is one of just 16 quarterbacks in the country with over 1,000 passing yards and 10 touchdowns.  Running back Duke Johnson provides balance to the offense, as he ranks sixth in program history with 2,237 career rushing yards.  Miami is 4-1 SU and 3-2 ATS as favorites of 3.5 to 10 points since 2012.

The Hurricanes have won 10 of their last 11 home games played at Sun Life Stadium, which can’t be ignored when looking over the NCAA football odds page.  Miami will certainly want to create turnovers defensively, as it has won 19 of 22 games under Al Golden when recording at least two takeaways in a contest.  The program forced 27 turnovers in 2013 after causing just 15 in the prior campaign.

Sports bettors will likely back the Hurricanes due to their 10-7 SUATS mark versus ACC opponents since 2012.
