Line From Bookmaker: Texas A&M -13.5
The ninth ranked Texas A&M Aggies (25- 6, 13- 3 Big 12) finished second in their conference just one game behind Kansas. During the regular season, the Aggies beat #14 Oklahoma State, #6 Kansas and #25 Texas. The Pennsylvania Quakers (22- 8, 13- 1 Ivy) won their division by three games. They have won 10 straight.
Although senior point guard Acie Law IV (17.9 PPG, 3.2 RPG, 5.3 APG) is definitely the leader on this team, the Aggies need everyone involved to be successful. Forward/center Joseph Jones (13.4 PPG, 6.6 RPG) and center Antanas Kavaliauskas (12.3 PPG, 6.5 RPG) make for a powerful inside combo. Guard Josh Carter (12.6 PPG, 4.0 RPG, 2.5 APG) hits three an astounding 52% of the time. Along with a great offense, Texas A&M sports the best defense in the nation.
This is Penn’s third consecutive journey into March Madness, which means they will have poise and smarts. Can they pull an upset? First and foremost, leading scorer and rebounder senior forward Mark Zoller (18.2 PPG, 7.5 RPG) must play well and as many minutes as possible. Guard Ibrahim Jaaber (15.9 PPG, 4.4 RPG, 5.3 APG) is another essential component for a Quaker upset. If Penn can keep their cool and control the ball, they could make this one close.
Texas A&M is a well-balanced team and should have no trouble with the Quakers as long as they play their game. Expect the Aggies to go deep into the tournament.
