The Boston College Eagles (20- 11, 10- 6 ACC) finished in the middle of the ACC. Losing 5 of its last 7 regular season games, while the Texas Tech Red Raiders (21- 12, 9- 7 Big 12) also ended up in the middle of the Big 12 pack.
Much of the Eagles success starts and stops with senior forward
Jared Dudley (19.0 PPG, 8.3 RPG, 3.0 APG), who led the team
in points and rebounds. He hits 56% of his shots and 46% of
his threes. Sophomore guard Tyrese Rice (17.2 PPG, 3.3 RPG,
5.5 APG) is a fine playmaker and shooting guard Sean Marshall
(14.8 PPG, 4.5 RPG) is solid. Inside, center Sean Williams (12.1
PPG, 6.9 RPG) is a strong force, averaging 5.0 blocks per contest.
Texas Tech’s guards, senior Jarrius Jackson (20.2 PPG, 3.3 RPG, 1.8 APG) and junior Martin Zeno (16.5 PPG, 5.3 RPG, 3.2 APG) must perform well or the Red Raiders will falter. This is a team that has beaten better clubs. Jackson, Zeno and Charlie Burgess (8.9 PPG, 4.1 RPG, 2.5 APG) are all fine 3-point shooters, with each hitting about 44% of the time. Bob Knights’ motion offense baffles opponents and the team is accurate from the penalty stripe and good at guarding the ball.
If Dudley is shut down so too are the Eagles. Look for the Red Raiders to neutralize him. If B.C. can shut down the Tech outside game, they’ll stymie their offense.
