2006 Seattle Seahawks NFL Mock Draft Picks

Team Needs

Cornerback: Seattle lost Andre Dyson and needs a young stud opposite Marcus Trufant. If not a stud, at least depth is needed.

Safety: Ken Hamlin is returning from a skull fracture stemming from a nightclub brawl. Hamlin only played in 6 games last year and there are doubts he will be able to make a full recovery. Marquand Manuel his backup was lost in free agency to the green bay packers.

Defensive End: Grant Wistrom and Bryce Fisher are nice players, but depth, youth, and improvement is possible.

Summary

Seattle is in pretty good position come draft day. They were able to take care of 2 pressing needs in the offseason by resigning Shaun Alexander to a long term deal and acquiring another young wide receiver in Nate Burleson from the Minnesota Vikings.

Seattle has also resigned a number of free agent core guys from their super bowl runner up team and even a pretty good player in Julian Peterson, linebacker from the San Francisco 49ers.

Most of the Seahawks draft will be focusing on plugging some small holes and adding depth to the roster. This will all be accomplished in the 3rd round and later while we project the Seahawks to snag a cornerback with their first round selection.

Guys like Ohio States' Ashton Youboty, Virginia Tech's Jimmy Williams, Miami's Kelly Jennings, and Fresno's State's Richard Marshall are all possible first round selections. There could be as many as 8 corners selected in the first round so it will probably be a matter of what the other teams in front of Seattle looking for cornerback help leave them with.

In the second round look for Seattle to snag a defensive end. Two possible players are Mark Anderson from Alabama and Mathias Kiwanuka from Boston College.
