2006 Draft Order: (11th Pick)
2006 Saint Louis Rams NFL Mock Draft Picks
Defensive Tackle: Saint Louis lost nose tackle Damione Lewis to the Carolina Panthers and also Ryan Pickett to the Green Bay Packers. The Rams did sign former Cowboy La'Roi Glover to a 3 year deal but still have a void to fill.
Linebacker: The Rams Dexter Coakley is aging and coming back from a broken leg. Chris Claiborne stinks and his replacement Trev Faulk is not elite.
Cornerback: This is the Rams biggest need as they may need to draft 2 corners in the 2006 draft. Fakhir Brown comes over from New Orleans to help but he will just be replacing Corey Ivy who left for the Ravens. Travis Fisher and Jerametrius Butler are often injured.
The one good thing the St Louis Rams have going for them into the draft is the offense is pretty good and doesn't need much tweaking. The defense is another story. The Rams were one of the worst teams against the run in 2005, and missed more tackles than a high school football team.
This is a case where selecting the best available player strategy with each pick is sound reasoning. Saint Louis has holes all over the defense and luckily they have a pool of talented players to select from.
Possible first round picks include Texas' Michael Huff, Iowa's Chad Greenway, and Oregon's Haloti Ngata. In the second guys like Miami's Orein Harris and Penn State's Anwar Phillips.
