Team Needs
Outside Linebacker: The Jaguars' Darryl Smith is a solid starter at one position, but the other outside position is up for grabs. Jacksonville lost Akin Ayodele to the Dallas Cowboys and Jamie Winborn is an unrestricted free agent that is still unsigned.
Tight End: Kyle Brady is the current starter but he is average at best and not the type of receiver that allows defenses to clog the line. Backup George Wrightster is not the answer or future at this time.
Defensive End: Jacksonville helped out this situation by resigning Marcellus Wiley but Paul Spicer is showing signs of age at 31 and depth at this position is needed as well as Spicer's future replacement.
Summary
Jacksonville has been one of the best teams in the draft the last 5 years. This crew isn't afraid to roll the dice and do an excellent job in evaluating talent. Only 1 real disappointment with their early picks the last 5 years with that being wide receiver Reggie Williams.
The tight end class is very deep so don't count on the Jaguars using their 28th pick on a tight end. Depending on how the board looks, the Jags may be able to hold off and snag a player like Notre Dame Anthony Fasano in the second if they decide to wait.
They don't have a seventh round pick this year as they dealt that to the 49ers for line backer Jamie Winborn, but will still be able to fill holes in the defensive end and offensive and defensive lines with their 2-6 round draft selections.
