Team Needs

Tight End: In a salary cap move Denver cut Jeb Putzier and he was picked up by the Houston Texans. Putzier was an average tight end but his backup Stephan Alexander's is getting up there in age and his best years are behind him.

Defensive Tackle: Monsanto Pope was not resigned and the Giants picked him up. Gerald Warren and Michael Myers are more run stuffers than pressure guys and wear down during games. Adding some depth giving these 2 a rest from time to time could make the defense even more productive.

Wide Receiver: Rod Smith hasn't shown many signs of age and is still a clear cut number 1 option, but lets face it, the guy is turning 36 this season and can't play forever. Ashlie Lelie is a number 2 guy and Watts and Adams the other Denver wide outs are not number 1 starter material.

Summary

Denver is lucky enough to have 2 first round picks in the 2006 draft. Look for the Bronco faithful to take hard looks at Florida Gators Wide Receiver Chad Jackson and Georgia Bulldog Tight End Marcus Pope. This 2 players would help trouble spots listed above and give Jake Plummer more targets downfield to fire to.

The Broncos will be able to address most of their line needs with the 4 picks they have in the 4th, 5th, and 6th rounds. This is where we figure to see Denver snag their usual gem running back that will turn into a 1000 yard rusher behind the stellar offensive line. Also look for Denver to take a look at a safety in the second round as John Lynch is not getting any younger and it is time to start grooming his replacement.
