Coach: Tom O'Brien (10th year at Boston College)
Team Name: Eagles
2005 Overall Record: 9-3
2005 ACC Conference Record 5-3
Returning Starters: 12

The Eagles are hoping to extend their streak of six consecutive bowl wins, despite the fact that they have lost 9 starters. Junior quarterback Matt Ryan, who proved to be a gamer last season, should better his solid 121 for 195 mark, 1,514 yards and 8 passing and 5 rushing touchdowns.

Tailbacks L.V. Whitworth and Andre Callender combed for a hefty total of 1,515 rushing yards in 2005. B.C. lost two of its best receivers, but the big playmaking talent of Tony Gonzalez and depth at WR will be a plus.

The offensive line, due to attrition, looks a bit shaky, especially at the center position.

Overall, there’s good news regarding the defense, which was the seventh best in the nation in 2005, allowing only 15.9 PPG. Free safety Ryan Glasper (2 INTS), corner DeJuan Tribble (2 INTS) and strong safety Jaime Silva (87 tackles) will be tough to beat in the secondary.

The linebacking corps is strong, while the defensive line will have a lot of adjusting to do with stars Mathias Kiwanuka and Ray Henderson gone.

In its first season in the ACC, Boston College went 8 and 3 and then beat Boise State in the MPC Computers Bowl. This year they will play a longer and tougher 12 game schedule. Wins in swing contests against Wake Forest and BYU and an upset of Clemson will get them another bowl bid.
