Tampa Bay Buccaneers Football
Could the Tampa Bay Buccaneers possibly surprise bettors this year?
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers likely will not be playoff contenders this season, but second-year head coach Raheem Morris is building a strong, young team focused on becoming a force again in the NFC someday in the future.  The Bucs would certainly like to think first-round draft pick Gerald McCoy will develop into another All-Pro DT like former Super Bowl champ Warren Sapp, who has spent some time with the rookie recently in order teach him a few things about how to grow into a dominant force in the NFL.  McCoy definitely has that type of potential and could be part of something special in Tampa if second-year QB Josh Freeman becomes the player Morris envisioned when he was drafted a year ago.  Freeman needs RB Cadillac Williams to stay healthy and form a bond with rookie receivers Mike Williams and Arrelious Benn, who might become a dangerous tandem down the road in complementing TE Kellen Winslow Jr.

The teams will be hard-pressed to match last night’s 24 combined runs, with a pair of solid right-handers facing off.

Los Angeles Dodgers at Philadelphia Phillies

Los Angeles may have finally broken out of its offensive slump, scoring a combined 23 runs in the last two games, including 15 in a Tuesday night victory over the Phillies at Citizens Bank Park.  “We hope to give the pitching staff a little confidence and let them know their offense is clicking,” outfielder Andre Ethier said.  “At the same time, it gives us a little confidence.”  The team averaged just 2.5 runs in its first 23 games after the All-Star break before this two-game outburst.  The Dodgers are still just 3-10 at Citizens Bank Park since 2008, which includes five postseason games.  The club is a dismal 2-8 as a road underdog of +125 to +150 this season (-520) and the total in those games is 4-6 O/U.  Los Angeles has won five of its last six games against the NL East, but still stand at 11-13 versus the division this year.

The Red Sox withstood the power of the Blue Jays in this first game of this series, as a pair of right-handers face off at the Rogers Centre.

Boston Red Sox at Toronto Blue Jays

Boston moved its record to 9-2 against the Blue Jays in capturing a 7-5 victory on Tuesday night at the Rogers Centre.  “You know what?  Tonight was like our whole season,” manager Terry Francona said.  “It wasn’t perfect. But we kept playing.”  The Red Sox have won eight of their last 12 road contests and have a 23-16 record away from Fenway Park since May 22.  The club sits five games in the divisional race and just 4.5 back in the Wild Card.  Boston is 6-1 on artificial turf this season, managing to average 6.5 runs and hit for a combined .291 average in those contests.  The team is a fantastic 7-1 on the road with a money line of -100 to -125 this season (+590), but falls off to a 26-32 mark in this situation the last three years (-1,020).  The Red Sox evened up their record against divisional opponents (23-23, -400) and the total in those games is 25-18 O/U.

Big East Football
Pittsburgh is one of the co-favorites to win the Big East Conference and our pick to do so
The Big East will be very competitive this season as 6 of the 8 teams have a chance of winning the conference. Only Syracuse and Louisville don’t really have a shot at the title. The problem with such a competitive league is that the teams will beat up on each other, making it possible that the conference champ might have 2 or 3 losses at the end of the season. Here is a look at each of the individual teams. College football odds to win the Big East conference title are from Bodog and listed in parentheses.

Hawks VS Magic NBA Schedule
Hawks @ Orlando on Nov 8th is a prove it game for the Hawks
The NBA schedule has finally been released in it’s entirety after the league teased us over the last week with some marquee games. That means that this is a good time to look over the schedule for 10 games that stand out as interesting ones for bettors to keep a close eye on. I don’t want to be painfully predictable, so I’m going to leave most games featuring the Lakers and the Heat off – every game they play is going to be worth watching. Here are ten more slightly lower profile games (okay, one is as high profile as it gets, but you get the point) that stand out at first glance:

Coming off a 2009 season in which the Bills went 6-10 with a -68 point differential,   Vegas has set the 2010 Regular season win total for the Bills at 5.5.  The Bills were 30th in offense and 19th in defense.   Pinnacle has the under at -140 and Bodog has the under at -150 so the early bettors are shorting the Bills hard.   Will the coaching change from Dick Jauron to Chan Gailey breathe new life into the franchise or will the lack of firepower on offense doom them?  The Bookbeater likes the under.

TCU Football in the Mounatin West Conference
TCU is the favorite to win the Mountain West Conference
The past two years have been banner years for the Mountain West conference in football. Two years ago Utah finished an undefeated regular season by upsetting Alabama in the Sugar Bowl. Last year TCU narrowly lost to fellow undefeated upstart Boise St in the Fiesta Bowl. In fact it could be argued that last year the Mountain West was stronger than the Big East or perhaps even the ACC.

Seattle Seahawks Football OddsThe Pete Carroll era begins in Seattle after he left a very successful college coaching career at Southern Cal for another shot at the NFL.  Carroll has some unfinished business following his first stint as a pro football head coach with the New York Jets and New England Patriots, posting a 33-31 record in four seasons between the teams and a winning record against the NFL line.  The guy who immediately followed him in New England just happened to be former Jets defensive coordinator Bill Belichick, who went on to win three Super Bowls with the Patriots.  This time around, Carroll inherits a squad that has a unique blend of youth and experience.  Five years removed from their one and only Super Bowl appearance, the Seahawks still have veteran QB Matt Hasselbeck leading the offense designed by new offensive coordinator Jeremy Bates, who has been working hard to develop 2009 free-agent WR signee T.J. Houshmandzadeh and former USC great Mike Williams as his top targets.

AL East rivals will battle it out in a series in hopes of gaining ground on the Rays and Yankees.

Boston Red Sox at Toronto Blue Jays

Boston failed to pick up any ground on the first place Yankees, splitting a four-game series in the Bronx, as the team sits six games back in the divisional race.  “We’re leaving here with a good taste in our mouths,” reliever Daniel Bard said.  “We didn’t move up, but to stay where you’re at is kind of an accomplishment.”  The Red Sox have won seven of their last 11 road games and are 22-16 away from Fenway Park since May 22.  The bullpen has been a major strength over the last 13 games, posting a 1.32 ERA and holding opponents to a .144 average.  The club has posted a solid 8-4 record this year on artificial turf (+480), but is still a dismal 26-34 over the last three seasons (-880).  Boston has also compiled a winning 20-16 mark against left-handed starters this season (+110), averaging 5.5 runs per game and hitting for a combined .271 average.
