NFL weekly recap June 14 – 20

OT Brown to Redskins for conditional pick

The New Orleans Saints traded offensive lineman Jammal Brown to the Washington Redskins for a conditional draft pick. The Saints picked the 29-year-old with the 13th pick of the 2005 draft. He started all of his games between 2005 and 2008, but spent 2009 on the injured reserved list, due to a hip injury and sports hernia surgery.

Austin signs tender with Cowboys

Pro Bowl wide receiver Miles Austin signed his $3.16 million tender with the Dallas Cowboys Friday. Austin had a breakout season in 2009, catching 81 passes for 1,320 yards. He scored 11 touchdowns for the Cowboys. He caught only 13 passes for 278 yards in 2008.

We are not that far away from the opening week of the 2010 NFL football season.  Bookmaker has week 1 NFL lines now posted and for those wondering what they are, here they are.  We have also included 5Dimes current NFL football lines to compare.  The column titled open is the first number Bookmaker opened up at.  Bookmaker’s week 1 odds have been out for a few weeks now and as you can see to this point the lines makers have done a great job as very few of the week 1 point spreads have moved much at all.  Minnesota has seen a little action going from 4.5 to 4.

Falcons OG Ojinaka suspended for season opener

Atlanta Falcons offensive guard Quinn Ojinaka has been suspended for one game. The NFL suspended the 26-year-old according to its personal conduct policy. Ojinaka was arrested in May 2009 and charged with battery, after he allegedly threw his wife down the stairs and out of the house. His wife had confronted him about contacting a female friend on facebook.

Cold Weather Super Bowl; a hot topic for bettors

Mark this one in your calendars! Super Bowl XLVIII will be the first of its kind to be played outside in a cold weather location. The NFL announced Tuesday that they will hold the 2014 championship game in Meadowlands Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

Favre’s ankle surgery could be sign for QB’s return

It’s looking more and more like Brett Favre will be back for a 20th season in the NFL. The Vikings QB had arthroscopic ankle surgery Friday which would enable him to participate in the Vikings’ training camp in July. While Favre didn’t officially comment on his plans to return for another season, this strongly suggests that Favre will be back in purple and gold for the 2011 season.
