OT Brown to Redskins for conditional pick

The New Orleans Saints traded offensive lineman Jammal Brown to the Washington Redskins for a conditional draft pick. The Saints picked the 29-year-old with the 13th pick of the 2005 draft. He started all of his games between 2005 and 2008, but spent 2009 on the injured reserved list, due to a hip injury and sports hernia surgery.

He will most likely start at left tackle for the Redskins. The Skins needed experience on the offensive line to protect new quarterback Donovan McNabb.

Seymour signs franchise tender

Oakland Raiders’ defensive lineman Richard Seymour has signed his franchise tender. The contract is worth $12.4 million. The Raiders now have all of their veterans under contract and will start rookie signings soon, according to nfl.com.

Seymour finished the 2009 season with 47 tackles, four sacks, and one forced fumble. He was a starter with the Patriots for most of his career, before being traded to Oakland in September of 2009.

WR Moore signs one-year tender with Saints

New Orleans Saints’ WR Lance Moore signed a one-year tender worth $1.76 million Friday. He was looking for a longer deal, but eventually resigned to agreeing on the one-year contract.

Moore was the Saints’ leading receiver in 2008, but injuries limited him to only seven games last season. He had 14 receptions for 153 yards and two touchdowns during the regular season, but helped the team win the Super Bowl. He caught two passes for 21 yards and converted a two-point conversion in the Saints’ win over the Colts.

Ravens sign S Hamlin

The Baltimore Ravens have signed defensive back Ken Hamlin to a one-year deal. The team’s number one safety, six-time Pro Bowler Ed Reed, had hip surgery this offseason. While he is not expected to miss any playing time, he will most likely not be able to fully participate in the Ravens’ training camp.

Hamlin started 12 games for the Cowboys last season and racked up 52 tackles. Reed had 50 tackles and added three interceptions and three forced fumbles in 12 games with the Ravens. He returned one of the interceptions for a touchdown.

Giants WR/return man Hixon will miss season

New York Giants receiver Domenik Hixon will miss the 2010 season due to a torn ACL. He was injured in the teams’ first practice at their new stadium Tuesday. Hixon was the Giants’ leading punt and kickoff returner last year.

He averaged 22.6 yards per kickoff return and 15.1 yards per punt return in 2009. The Giants are reportedly looking at Aaron Ross, Mario Manningham, Sinorice Moss, and Chad Jones in their search for a new punt returner. Ahmad Bradshaw has returned kickoffs before and is the most likely replacement for Hixon there.

Titans’ Young cited for misdemeanor assault

Tennessee Titans quarterback Vince Young was cited for misdemeanor assault after an altercation at a Dallas Strip Club. Young reportedly was upset that a man in the backroom of the club flashed upside-down Hook ‘Em Horns. The quarterback apparently didn’t appreciate the knock on his alma mater.

It has not been announced if this behavior will have any repercussions on Young’s status with the league. Young has apologized an hopes to avoid a suspension.
