The University of South Florida Bulls (9- 4 overall, 4-3 Big East) went to the PapaJohns.com Bowl after finishing tied for 4th in the Big East. In their post- season contest, the Bulls easily beat East Carolina 24- 7. Expect this team with its strong "D" to be bowl bound again.

QB Matt Grothe (63.7% COMP, 2,576 YDs, 15 TDs, 15 INTs) proved to be an able leader and a versatile performer. As a freshman, he led the team to come from behind victories and was able to improvise under pressure. He notched 622 yards running and scored 9 TDs. TB Benjamin Williams averaged 3.6 YPC, while rushing for 436 yards and 4 TDs. The receiving corps is deep and talented but Grothe has to be careful, he threw too many interceptions in his first season. The offensive line is not big but they are agile, fast and smart.

In the secondary, the Bulls have two great players at the corners. Senior Trae Williams scooped 7 interceptions, while senior Mike Jenkins has proven that he can close the deal on just about any receiver. Senior MLB Ben Moffitt (112 tackles, 75 solo) is the anchor of the line-backing squad. DE George Selvie (84 tackles, 56 solo), only a sophomore, eats up offensive lines. Sophomore SLB Chris Robinson starts for the first time. Last season he contributed seven sacks. This entire side of the ball is primed. They allowed only 16.9 PPG in 2006,

Auburn will be a tough win for this team, while the Bulls need to be wary of Pitt. With eight returning on offense and seven on defense, South Florida has the opportunity to move up the food chain in the bowl world. That world is relatively new for the Bulls, as they've been to only two bowls, both within the past two years.
