San Antonio has now locked up the #1 seed in the Western Conference. They will face either Dallas, Utah, or Phoenix in the first round, and should have no problem with any of them. THe real challenge will come in the second round when they face either the Clippers or Grizzlies. Both the Clippers and Grizzlies have a lot of players that will be problematic for an older Spurs team. I don’t see Tim Duncan being able to slow down Blake Griffin, and Zach Randolph will give Duncan headaches, as well. Is that saying a lot? To be sure it is. Duncan was once an All NBA First team Defender, and has now become an near liability. Tiago Splitter could do a far better job with Griffin’s length and athleticism at this point.

The Suns really need this game to make the playoffs. Steve Nash could be rewarded with at least a playoff trip for his loyalty, and he is of course the sole reason why. Nash leads the league in assists again and really is showing no signs of slowing down, leading myself and other analysts to believe he may remain effective right until age 40 like legend John Stockton, and just retire at the top, as he always was.

The Suns grabbed a good pick in Markieff Morris, who compares favorably to Shawn Marion, a former stud under Suns former coach Mike D’Antoni. They also landed a steal when they snagged Marcin Gortat from the Magic, and Gortat is a true cornerstone in the rebuilding effort in Phoenix, if you want to call it rebuilding. The Suns find a way to stay competitive and please their rabid fan base, even against all odds. I also would definitely not count out the prospect that Steve Nash remains a Sun. He already has said he is going to give the team the chance in the off-season to improve. That speaks loudly for a player’s loyalty, in an era in which we see very little.

Spurs Betting Trends:

San Antonio is 41-20 ATS this season hand 8-5 ATS as an underdog. They are 23-10 ATS vs teams with winning records and 30-9 ATS in the second half of the season. They are 10-2 ATS in April.

Suns Betting Trends:

Phoenix is 34-30 ATS this season and 15-9 ATS as a favorite. They are 8-6 ATS in April and 3-10 ATS vs very good offensive teams (over 99+ ppg). They are 1-6 ATS vs very good offensive teams as well, and 12-7 ATS in the second game of a back to back.
