The NFL preseason concludes tonight with all 32 teams in action. The 53 man roster cuts are this Saturday, so this is the last chance for coaches to evaluate players and players to impress coaches. According to our NFL betting lines page, there have been some line movements since Monday. Let’s see where spreads are sitting.
When the Washington Redskins head to Arizona to take on the Cardinals Thursday night, the ‘Skins will travel farther than any other preseason team this year. In fact, this will be the longest road trip for the Redskins all season long. “Why couldn’t they come here?” asked guard Derrick Dockery. Head coach Mike Shanahan added, “It’s a little unusual traveling that far.” These are not the kind of comments you want to be reading if you are backing Washington. Considering this is the final week of the preseason and the game doesn’t really matter, Redskins bettors should be very worried.
The Green Bay Packers have been the most offensively prolific team in the NFL preseason. Through 3 games the Pack have put up 110 points, including a 59-24 drubbing of the Indianapolis Colts last week. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers has been outstanding, having thrown 6 touchdowns and 0 interceptions.
The Miami Dolphins and Dallas Cowboys will meet Thursday night in Dallas for the final preseason game of the season. The last week of the preseason – more than any other week – is always a mystery. Who will play? What are coaches hoping to work on? What do experts know that the public does not?
The final week of NFL preseason action takes place this Thursday with all 16 games slated for play on September 2. This is the last of week of preseason play, which means the regular season is just around the corner. Check out our NFL betting lines page to see all the updated lines for week 4 and to compare odds from various sportsbooks.
The Carolina Panthers have had an awful preseason. In their first two games the Panthers have not been able to score an offensive touchdown. First-string, second-string, third-string, whatever-string – no offensive touchdowns in two games. Not good. The lone Panther touchdown came on a 31 yard fumble return by C.J. Wilson in week 1 against the Baltimore Ravens. Then John Kasay missed the PAT. It has been that kind of preseason for the Panthers.
Saturday night is the annual NFL preseason Battle of the Bay with the Oakland Raiders hosting the San Francisco 49ers. The two teams have been impressive in preseason play. The Raiders went into Dallas in week 1 and came away with a 17-9 victory, and then took care of the Bears in Chicago, 32-17. San Fran also sports a 2-0 record having beaten the Colts in Indy, 37-17, and the Vikings at home, 15-10. With bragging rights on the line, this promises to be an entertaining contest.
The New York Jets and Washington Redskins have gotten as much press as any other NFL teams leading up to the regular season. Between HBO’s ‘Hard Knocks’ and Darrelle Revis’ contract issues, Jets head coach Rex Ryan and company have built on the publicity that began with last year’s postseason march to the AFC title game. The Washington Redskins have similarly seen an excessive amount of attention. Mike Shanahan has taken over as head coach and executive vice president. Donovan McNabb bolted from the city of brotherly love to the nation’s capital. And Albert Haynesworth’s conditioning and medical issues have been hot topics for sports writers.
The Atlanta Falcons travel to Miami to take on the Dolphins in NFL preseason action Friday night. The Dolphins opened as 2 ½ point favorites, but our NFL betting page indicates that the line has come down to a pick at most sites, with a few listing the home Dolphins as 1 point favorites.
