Jacksonville is 0-5 SUATS through five games of the 2014 campaign, as it comes off a disappointing 17-9 setback to the Pittsburgh Steelers as six-point home underdogs last Sunday, while going UNDER the betting total for the first time.  The Jaguars came into their last affair allowing an average of 38.0 points, which can’t be ignored when making your Week 6 NFL betting picks, but they limited the Steelers to just a single offense touchdown.  Jacksonville is 0-9 SU and 3-6 ATS in Weeks 5 through 9 of the season since 2012, with the OVER going 6-3 in those nine opportunities.

The Jaguars need to start getting something going offensively, as they rank 31st in the league in averaging just 13.4 points and 272.2 yards per contest, which is important to consider when looking over the NFL betting lines.  Jacksonville has just started the Blake Bortles era after going with Chad Henne to start the season, but the first-round selection from this year’s draft out of Central Florida has thrown one touchdown and four picks in two starts.

Tennessee is mired in a losing streak of its own, as it dropped its fourth consecutive affair in a 29-28 defeat to the Cleveland Browns, while getting out-gained by 50 yards in that matchup.  The Titans have really hurt themselves on the field under head coach Ken Whisenhunt, as they’ve been penalized 55 times already, which makes it hard to overcome an offensive unit that is scoring just 17.6 points per game.  Tennessee is 3-10 SU and 2-9-2 ATS against division opponents the last two-plus seasons, with the OVER going 7-6 in that situation.

The Titans are hoping that starting quarterback Jake Locker can return to the field after being sidelined with a thumb injury, but Whisenhunt is confident that backup Charlie Whitehurst can move the football—tossing two touchdowns and no interceptions against the Browns last week.  Tennessee owns a 15-11 SU advantage in this division rivalry.

Sports bettors will likely back the Jaguars due to the underdog going 3-1-1 ATS in the last five meetings in this series.
