Pittsburgh needs two wins in its final three games to become bowl eligible, which is important to consider when making your Week 12 NCAA football betting picks, as it looks to capture its first win in this series in four tries.  The Panthers defense ranks 20th nationally in allowing just 334.8 yards per game, with much of that success due to the secondary—limiting foes to 176.8 yards through the air per contest.  Pittsburgh is 4-10 SU and 8-6 ATS as underdogs the last two-plus seasons, with no clear edge in terms of the betting total (7-7 Over/Under).

The Panthers have one of the best young offensive players in the Atlantic Coast Conference, with James Conner being the country’s third-leading rusher with 1,342 yards on the ground.  Pittsburgh started the year as one of the youngest rosters in the country, with 81 underclassmen on its depth chart—the highest such total among FBS teams in major college football.

North Carolina had its two-game win streak snapped last time out, as it dropped a 47-20 decision to the Miami Hurricanes as 16.5-point road underdogs on Nov. 1, while getting out-gained for the seventh time in its last eight affairs.  The Tar Heels are also in a position of needing to capture two of their final three games to potentially participate in the postseason.  Offensively, quarterback Marquise Williams is the main player to watch, as he ranks second in the ACC and 20th in the country in averaging 303.0 yards of total offense.  North Carolina is 17-5 SU and 12-9-1 ATS as favorites the last two-plus seasons.

The Tar Heels rank third in the ACC and 27th in the country in averaging 35.4 points per game—scoring 30 or more in six of nine games during the 2014 campaign.  Williams has a big target down field in Mack Hollins, who has a conference-best seven receiving touchdowns and he averages 20.2 yards per catch.

Sports bettors will likely play the total, as the UNDER is 5-1 in the Panthers’ last six games following a bye week.
