Through two games, Liabo is leading the way this year with 15.5 points per game. The 6’6″ sophomore put up 15 in a 35 point loss to #8 ranked Louisville and he scored 16 in a 9 point loss to Ohio. He is 5 of 14 from three so far this year and 6 of 6 at the line. Jeremy Washington led the way in scoring in the game against Ohio, with 17 points off the bench, to go along with 9 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 blocks. The 6’7″ junior may be inline for a starting position after that performance, while he is already playing starters minutes with 32 minutes against Ohio and 22 minutes in the blowout loss to Louisville. He did not play in his first two seasons at UT-Martin, but looks to make a big impact in what is essentially his freshman season.

Last season, Arkansas State went 17-15 with an 11-5 record in Sun Belt Conference play. Their coach, John Brady, was a two time SEC coach of the year at LSU and he took the Tigers to the 2006 Final Four. He has made a big difference for the Red Wolves as well. Last season, they were undefeated at home and shared the West Division title. They are led by senior Martavius Adams, who has a legit shot at winning Player of the Year. He’s skilled around the hoop and brings experience to the Wolves.

Junior Trey Finn will also make a difference, as he put up 30 against Western Kentucky last year and has a knack for having big games. So far this season, the Red Wolves have been led by Marcus Hooten and Malcoln Kirkland, who have combined for 41 points in two games (both average 10 ppg). Finn has scored 19 over the two games while hauling in 11 rebounds and dishing out 5 assists and recording four steals. Adams has yet to play.

The Red Wolves have lost their first two games of the season to Lamar (by only 3) and a 26 point blowout loss to Missouri State on Tuesday. In the loss to Lamar, Hooten put up 15 points, but turnovers down the stretch cost the Red Wolves the game. They will seek to take better care of the ball tonight against a team they should beat in Tennessee Martin.
