Virginia has won four of its last five games, including a 24-19 victory over the Pittsburgh Panthers as five-point home favorites on Oct. 4, while winning the statistical battle for a fourth consecutive contest.  The Cavaliers own a 33-32 all-time advantage in this series, which is important to consider when making your Week 8 college football predictions, but they’ve dropped five of the last six meetings.  It’s important to point out that the school has captured four of five games following a bye week under head coach Mike London.  Virginia is 2-5 SU and 1-6 ATS when the betting line is between +3 and -3 the last two-plus seasons.

The Cavaliers have a major offensive threat in running back Kevin Parks, who ranks seventh among active players with 2,901 career rushing yards.  Virginia has scored at least 30 points in 17 of the last 31 meetings in this series, which can’t be ignored when looking over the college football odds page, while it has enjoyed a 718-416 combined scoring margin in the last 24 installments of this rivalry.

Duke enters the week at 5-1 overall and 1-1 in Atlantic Coast Conference play, as it looks to build off a 31-25 victory over the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets as 3.5-point road underdogs.  The Blue Devils have put together a 15-1 SU record in regular season games with Anthony Boone under center, while running back Shaun Wilson leads the country in averaging 10.84 yards per carry on the ground.  Duke is 13-0 SU and 11-2 ATS as favorites the last two-plus seasons.

The Blue Devils have won seven consecutive games at Wallace Wade Stadium dating back to last year, while they’ve put together a 40-49-1 SU mark in Homecoming games.  Duke has captured four of six such events since arriving on campus in Durham, including wins in three consecutive affairs.  In three home games during the 2014 campaign, the program has averaged 46.7 points and surrendered just 9.7.

Sports bettors will likely back the Cavaliers due to their 3-0 ATS mark following a bye week since 2012.
