Florida is coming off a bye week after suffering a humiliating 42-21 setback to the Alabama Crimson Tide as 14-point road underdogs Sept. 20, while going OVER the betting total for the third consecutive contest to open up the 2014 campaign.  The Gators have won a series-best nine consecutive games against the Volunteers, which can’t be ignored when making your Week 6 college football betting picks, as they’ve outscored them by a 281-143 margin.  Florida is 5-5 SU and 6-4 ATS in true road games the last two-plus seasons, with no clear edge in terms of the total (5-5 Over/Under).

The Gators lead the nation with a plus-eight turnover margin, which is important to consider when looking over the college football betting lines, especially since they’ve forced 12 turnovers thus far—the most through three games during the Will Muschamp era.  Florida has developed an up-tempo offense under new coordinator Kurt Roper, as it has averaged 78.3 plays per game thus far.  Offensively, all eyes will be on quarterback Jeff Driskel, who has compiled a 14-4 SU record as the school’s starter.

Tennessee has put together a 10-2 record in Noon kickoff games at home since 2010, including a 4-2 mark when taking on Southeastern Conference opponents.  The Volunteers lead the nation in defensive third down percentage, as they’ve limited opponents to a 20.8 percent conversion rate—an even more impressive number consider they’ve played the likes of Oklahoma and Georgia so far.  Tennessee is 2-4 SU ATS when the betting line is +3 to -3 the last two-plus seasons, with no clear edge in terms of the total (3-3 Over/Under).

The Volunteers have a youthful look on the field this season, as they’ve played 22 true freshmen—the highest number nationally among FBS programs.  Tennessee has captured seven of its last 10 games at Neyland Stadium, as the team continues to show improvement on a weekly basis after being the only squad in the country without a returning starter on the offensive or defensive line to start the season.

Sports bettors will likely back the Gators due to their 5-3 SUATS mark in Weeks 5 through 9 since the start of the 2012 season.
