The Oklahoma Sooners have won their last 20 trips to Ames, Iowa

Oklahoma is coming off a 30-13 setback to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish as 10.5-point home favorites, while going UNDER for the first time in four games.  “Nothing’s missing,” commented Sooners head coach Bob Stoops commented.  “We’ve lost to the No. 2 and No. 3 teams in the country.”  Dating back to 2004, the program has tallied a 19-0 record in games immediately following a regular season loss.  Oklahoma is 4-6 ATS as a road favorite over the last two-plus years, with the OVER going 6-4 in that situation.

The Sooners have won 13 straight games in this series, including a perfect 7-0 mark under Stoop’s direction.  Oklahoma has outscored its last three conference opponents by a 156-48 margin, while posting a plus-six turnover differential in those contests.  The program has compiled a 40-10 record in its last 50 games in the month of November, with senior quarterback Landry Jones owning a 34-10 record as a starter.

Iowa State has compiled an even 23-23 record under head coach Paul Rhoads, as the team snapped a two-game losing streak by picking up a 35-21 win over the Baylor Bears as 2.5-point home favorites last week.  “Our football record against Oklahoma is dismal and our guys know that,” commented Rhoads this week.  The Cyclones are 5-69-2 all-time in this series, which includes an 0-14 mark inside Jack Trice Stadium.  Iowa State is 9-8 ATS at home since 2010.

The Cyclones are 20-1 in their last 21 games when holding opponents under 24 points, while going 3-22 when allowing more than that number.  Iowa State is going to be hard-pressed to hold Saturday’s opponent under 24 points, especially with linebacker Jake Knott undergoing left shoulder surgery on Monday, as he was named Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week with 11 tackles last week.  With his leadership, the defense held each of its eight opponents below its season average in points.

Sports bettors will likely back the Sooners due to their 5-2 ATS mark in the last seven meetings, while the Cyclones are 1-3-1 ATS versus winning teams.
