Utah picked up a 90-72 season-opening victory over Ball State as 26.5-point home favorites last week, while going OVER the betting total of 141.  The Utes are expected to contend for the Pac-12 Conference regular season title, which is important to consider when making your college basketball betting picks, as they’ll be led by Delon Wright.  He averaged a remarkable 15.5 points, 6.8 rebounds and 5.3 assists during the 2013-14 campaign.  Utah is 3-0 ATS versus Mountain West opponents the last two-plus seasons.

The Utes have really upped their non-conference schedule, which can’t be ignored when looking over the college basketball lines, as they expect to take on three top-20 teams before entering Pac-12 play.  Utah was extremely balanced on both sides of the floor last year—leading directly to landing in the first installment of the AP Top 25 rankings for the first time in over a decade.

San Diego State remains home after tallying a 79-58 victory over Cal State Northridge as 15-point home favorites last week, as it managed to knock down 50 percent of its shots and finished with a plus-five rebounding margin.  The Aztecs have proven victorious in 12 of their last 15 contests against Pac-12 foes, while also putting together a five-game home winning streak in this particular series.  San Diego State is 27-5 SU and 16-8 ATS versus non-conference opponents the last two-plus seasons, with the UNDER going 11-7 in that situation.

The Aztecs are a bit concerned about fan turnout for this early tip-off, but it’s still important to point out that they’ve compiled a 128-15 SU record at Viejas Arena since the start of the 2005-06 campaign.  San Diego State has been known for its defense under veteran head coach Steve Fisher, which is clearly represented in holding its last 21 non-conference opponents to 70 or fewer points at this facility.

Sports bettors will likely back the Utes due to their 30-15 ATS record versus teams with a winning record in their last 45 opportunities.
