The Bills are currently a 3.5 point favorite in the NFL odds against the Colts tonight.
The Indianapolis Colts (0-1) and Buffalo Bills (0-1) meet for the first time since the 2009 regular-season finale, and if you watched that game then you will understand why the home team is favored yet again in this preseason matchup.  The Bills were -9 on the NFL point spread in the last meeting and dominated the Colts in a 30-7 rout as Indy backup QB Curtis Painter struggled mightily after Peyton Manning left the game.

The Washington Redskins have already taken on a new identity under new head coach Mike Shanahan, starting with the treatment of former All-Pro DT Albert Haynesworth.  Shanahan is a no-nonsense leader who was able to churn out a couple Super Bowl titles with an older John Elway that played three more seasons than new QB Donovan McNabb has under his belt heading into this year before winning his first championship.  McNabb gives the Redskins their best quarterback since they won their last Super Bowl with Mark Rypien under center 19 years ago.  But Shanahan’s biggest challenge will be trying to provide McNabb with enough weapons to give him a real chance to win in the toughest division in all of football.

While we love Rex and the Jets, expect them to be overvalued in the sports betting market place this season
There is a circus in town. In New York, that is. The Jets are totally and utterly bizarre this year. Most teams make a few changes in the offseason, but it’s not often we see a team add as many expected starters as the Jets – never mind starters with big names and as much baggage as this collection of guys has. Just think about it: LaDainian Tomlinson is a former franchise mega-stud who was unceremoniously dumped; Jason Taylor has made a career out of hating the Jets; Santonio Holmes has a massive collection of personal issues; Antonio Cromartie has even more. Add to that a couple of additions from last year – Braylon Edwards and his ridiculously inconsistent hands, and Mark Sanchez and his looks and reputation that far exceeds his play so far – and a coach that never shuts up and you have a team that has a real potential to be volatile. Oh yeah, and Darrelle Revis is holding out for big money. Like I said, the team is a circus.

The New York Giants have loads of talent left over from their Super Bowl championship team that won it all three years ago, and they should be a contender this season if they can just stay healthy.  That might be asking too much from a squad which has still managed to go 20-12 over the last two seasons since winning Super Bowl XLII.  New York’s rejuvenated defensive line will likely be the key to the season because Justin Tuck, Osi Umenyiora and Mathias Kiwanuka are as good as any pass rushers in the NFL.  The Giants are still dealing with several injuries in training camp and saw franchise QB Eli Manning leave their first preseason game against the New York Jets with a gash on his head that required 12 stitches.  Manning is expected to be fine, but his injury signifies the kind of beating the team will likely continue to take – and survive – in order to make its way back toward the top among the NFC’s elite teams in 2010.

New York Jets Football
Mark Sanchez and the Jets are 2.5 point favorites tonight over the Giants
The New York Jets have become arguably the most popular team in the NFL thanks in part to their starring role in HBO’s “Hard Knocks” this year following their AFC championship appearance last season.  But the New York Giants are not buying the hype heading into their preseason opener as they open New Meadowlands Stadium on Monday Night Football.  The Jets are small favorites of -2 or -2.5 depending on where you bet the game featuring two “home” teams.  You can always compare the current Jets/Giants line from multiple sportsbooks on our NFL betting odds page.

The Chiefs are a trendy over pick on the season win betting line by sharps and squares.
The Kansas City Chiefs have seemingly completed the transition to “New England Patriots West” in the offseason with the addition of offensive coordinator Charlie Weis and defensive coordinator Romeo Crennel, both of whom did not enjoy the same type of success on their own as they did under Bill Belichick.  Kansas City GM Scott Pioli has worked hard on re-assembling the same components that played such a vital role in helping the Patriots win three Super Bowl titles in his first two years with the team after coming over from New England and believes his actions will eventually translate to a return to the playoffs.  Pioli’s moves started a year ago with the acquisition of QB Matt Cassel and LB Mike Vrabel along with the hiring of another Belichick disciple in head coach Todd Haley, who served as offensive coordinator of the Arizona Cardinals during their run to the Super Bowl.  The Chiefs are coming off an outstanding draft that included the selection of All-American S Eric Berry from Tennessee and multi-purpose RB Dexter McCluster from Mississippi and also added veteran RB Thomas Jones, who led the New York Jets with a career-best 1,402 yards and 14 touchdowns last year.

Bengals Vs Broncos Preview
Expect a little better showing from these 2 guys in tonights game
All of the critics will finally get to see whether or not former Heisman Trophy winner, two-time college national champion and current first-round draft pick Tim Tebow can play QB in the NFL when the Denver Broncos play their preseason opener on Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals.  Tebow will make his pro debut against the Bengals and another former Heisman winner in Carson Palmer, who struggled in their first game against the Dallas Cowboys in the Hall of Fame Game last Sunday.

49ers vs Colts Preseason Betting Preview
The 49ers are 3 point road favorites today, only the second team this week to be listed as a road fav by the NFL football betting oddsmakers.
The poor preseason record of the Indianapolis Colts over the last decade has made oddsmakers take notice and downgrade them significantly from how they would perform in the same situation during the regular season.  That is the easy explanation for why the Colts are home underdogs at +3 on the NFL betting odds against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday.
