New Orleans

The Hornets realized when they dealt Chris Paul that things were going to be rough, but they didn’t anticipate the fact that the player they received in return would spend the entire year injured. I’m talking about, of course, Eric Gordon, who has the potential to be one of the top shooting guards in the league but is nursing a bum knee that was just operated on. It’s doubtful he returns this season.

The result has been an 8-25 run to start the first half of the season for the Hornets. Prior to a win against the Jazz on February 13th, the Hornets had reeled off 8 straight losses and were looking to be the worst team in basketball. Since then, that honor has gone to the Charlotte Bobcats, but there’s little consolation, other than the fact both teams will be receiving nice lottery picks in a loaded NBA Draft.

Jarrett Jack has been basically the sole source of offense for a Hornets team that averages only 88.2 points per game. Jack is over 15 per game, but no other Hornet is over 12 per game, and the only one who really has the talent to even do so is Chris Kaman, or at least he once did…

Chicago

The Bulls have one of the best records in the league this season, and it is largely due to reigning MVP Derrick Rose.

But to say Rose has done it alone would be to ignore the contributions of fellow All-Star Luol Deng and the revitalized play of veteran Carlos Boozer.

The 27-8 Bulls receive 15.9 points per game from Deng and 15.8 from Boozer, and free agent signee Richard Hamilton is putting up 14.2 as well. Reserve C.J. Watson, who has been seeing a lot of time with Rose on the shelf, has put up 10.4 per game, as well. Joakim Noah is averaging just shy of a double double with 9.5 points per game and 9.9 boards per contest. He is capable of blocking more than 1.3 shots per game though, and must assume his role as a defensive stalwart in the Bulls defense.

The Bulls have a legit chance at winning a title, but will somehow have to make it through Miami. Right now, the pieces are in place and tonight should give the Bulls bench players a chance to get some extended burn, as the Bulls are expected to blow out the woeful Hornets.

Bulls Betting Trends:

Chicago is 2-3-1 ATS in their last 6 games and 9-2 SU in their last 11 games. The Bulls are 13-2 SU in their last 15 home games and 2-4-1 ATS in their last 7 at home. The total has gone UNDER in 4 of the Bulls last 6 games against the Hornets and the Bulls are 5-0 SU in their last 5 games against New Orleans. The total has gone UNDER in 5 of the Bulls last 6 games at home against the Hornets and the Bulls are 5-1 SU in their last 6 at home against the Hornets.
