The Los Angeles Lakers are 0-8 SU and 1-7 ATS as underdogs this year

Los Angeles has lost four games in a row by allowing at least 103 points in each contest, including a 125-112 setback to the Houston Rockets as eight-point road underdogs last night, while going OVER the total in three consecutive contests.  “I thought we had the better team,” commented Lakers forward Metta World Peace.  The Lakers are now 0-4 straight up and against the spread in the month of January, while dropping to 5-11 away from Southern California.  Los Angeles is 1-7 ATS as an underdog this year, with the OVER going 7-1 in those affairs.

The Lakers suffered an 84-82 setback as one-point home underdogs in their first meeting with the Spurs this year on Nov. 13, while going UNDER the posted total of 196.  Los Angeles is 21-28 (.428) in regular season games against San Antonio when shooting guard Kobe Bryant is in the starting lineup, as he’s averaged 24.3 points per game in this series during his career.  The franchise hasn’t lost five consecutive games since April 3-10, 2011.

San Antonio has alternated wins and losses over its last four games, as it attempts to bounce back from a 95-88 setback to the New Orleans Hornets as eight-point road favorites, while going UNDER the total for a third-straight game.  “They did a great job at both ends of the court,” stated Spurs coach Gregg Popovich.  “They just whipped us.”    The Spurs are 14-2 at the AT&T Center, including a 9-1 mark versus Western Conference opponents.  San Antonio is 13-4 ATS when playing a team with a losing record, which can’t be ignored when making your pro basketball picks Wednesday night.

The Spurs own a 45-29 advantage in games against the Lakers when playing in the Alamo City, while they own the league’s best home winning percentage.  San Antonio has five players averaging 10-or-more points this season, as it ranks third in the league in scoring 104.9 points per game.  The franchise is currently on a season-high 10-game home winning streak, something to consider when looking over the pro basketball odds page.

Sports bettors will likely back the Spurs due to the favorite being 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings, while the Lakers are 1-6-1 ATS following a straight-up loss.
