In pre-season writings, everyone agreed that the NBA Atlantic Division was the weakest in the league. But not as weak as this—there is not one club in the division with a winning record. In fact, there is not one team that’s even close to having a positive mark. Continue reading “NBA Atlantic Very Sad”

The NCAA basketball conference games are just starting to be played with most teams having accumulated a number of non-conference wins and loses. If you check out the 16- team Big East standings, you see a strange site—West Virginia on top of the conference at 1- 0 in the Big East and 11- 1 overall and Connecticut at the bottom at 0- 1 in the BE and 11- 1 overall. Sure it’s just the beginning, but it’s also an indication of things to come. Continue reading “Big East Opener = Big East Upset!”
Tennessee has a potent air game, but it just got a little weaker due to Bret Smith (39 REC, 453 YDS, 11.6 AVG, 5 TD) being ruled academically ineligible for the post-season contest against Penn State. Continue reading “Vols’ WR Bret Smith to Miss Outback Bowl”
In what is supposed to be his final regular season game, Tiki Barber rushed for a franchise-record 234 yards, garnering three touchdowns and leading the New York football Giants to a 34- 28 win over the Washington Redskins. Oh, he has also basically assured the Giants of a playoff spot.

This Sunday the Dallas Cowboys head into Giants’ Stadium favored by 3.5 points. Their job is to take on Eli Manning, Tiki Barber and company. It is the Big East game of the season– #13 Rutgers (10-1, 5- 1 Big East) versus #15 West Virginia (9- 2, 4- 2 Big East). What’s at stake is a BCS Bowl bid. If Rutgers wins they will go to either the Orange, Sugar or Rose Bowl. That’s all that there is to it. Even if #6 Louisville (10- 1, 5- 1 Big East) beats Connecticut (4- 7, 1- 5 Big East) on Saturday, which they should, the Scarlet Knights of Rutgers will still win the Big East title by virtue of their win over Louisville 28- 25 on November 9th.
This season the NFL has added a third matchup to its Thanksgiving slate of games. Now all football fans are treated to 3 games spanning throughout the holiday, giving bettors a chance to have action while the family is in town.
First up for football fans is a 12:30 ET start as the Detroit Lions welcome the Miami Dolphins to the turf of Ford Field. The bookmakers have installed Miami as a 3-point favorite for this appetizer with the total sitting at 39, as ex-Lions QB Joey Harrington returns at the helm of the Dolphins. After a terrible start to the season – including six losses in their first seven games – Miami has reeled off three victories is a row and is making a run at a postseason berth.
