The California Golden Bears are 4-1 ATS in their last five games as a road favorite

California will seek its first Pac-12 Conference road win on Sunday afternoon in taking on Oregon inside Matthew Knight Arena.  The Golden Bears are not alone in terms of losing on the road in conference play, as the home team is 14-2 this year.  The team is coming off a 92-85 loss to the Oregon State Beavers.  “We got to four with the ball and had a real chance,” commented Golden Bears head coach Mike Montgomery.  “Then we turned it over.”  California is 7-3 ATS this year when playing a team with a winning record.

The Golden Bears were led by senior guard Jorge Gutierrez, who matched a season high with 26 points against the Beavers.  He has really upped his contribution since the start of conference play, averaging 18.3 points per game during that time.  Power forward Richard Solomon returned to the court after missing four games, playing 11 minutes off the bench and contributing five points and a rebound.  Sophomore guard Justin Cobbs is someone to watch on the perimeter, leading the Pac-12 in shooting 65.4 percent from beyond the arc.

Oregon has won five of its past six games that includes a spirited 78-67 win over the Stanford Cardinal as one-point home favorites.  The Ducks earned a split in their Washington road trip last week, but have been much better at home, winning their last four games on today’s court.  Senior guard Devoe Joseph led the way versus the Cardinals, scoring 30 points, but four other players contributed at least seven to 13 points in the contest.  “That’s really big for us,” stated Ducks player Tony Woods.  Oregon is 4-2 ATS as a home underdog of three points or less the last two-plus years.

The Ducks are known for having a balanced offense, as six different players have led the team in scoring this season.  Ten of the team’s 11 active players have actually reached double-figures in scoring.  On the defensive end, Oregon is known for blocking shots, tallying a 5-1 record when registering five or more in a game this season.  Coming into this weekend, the team’s bench had outscored opponents by an average of 3.3 points per game.

Bettors will likely back the Golden Bears due to their 4-1 ATS mark as a road favorite, while the Ducks are 1-5 ATS following a straight-up win.
