The Denver Nuggets are coming off a fantastic January heading into Thursday night's game

Denver will look to snap a two-game losing streak that includes a 109-105 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers as 5.5-point home favorites on Sunday.  The Nuggets have actually dropped three consecutive games in this series and will begin their second back-to-back-to-back stretch of the 2011-12 campaign.  It’s still important to note that the squad finished the month of January with a solid 12-5 record.  “We’ve had a great month of January,” commented Nuggets head coach George Karl.  Denver is 5-1 ATS as an underdog this season.

The Nuggets have four starters that are averaging in double figures, with point guard Ty Lawson leading the way in scoring 15.5 points per game.  Denver is 7-4 on the road this season, which includes a losing 3-4 mark versus Western Conference opponents.  Despite its recent three-game losing streak in this series, the team has still managed to capture 13 of the last 19 meetings since the 2006-07 season.  Offensively, the team leads the league in averaging 105.4 points per game.

Los Angeles is enjoying a four-game win streak and tallied a hard-fought 107-105 victory over the Utah Jazz as 2.5-point road favorites last night.  The Clippers have also managed to go “over” the total in six of their last seven games.  “This was a pretty good win for us,” commented Clippers point guard Chris Paul.  “The sky’s the limit.”  Over their last four games, the team is averaging 106.5 points on 49.5 percent shooting.  Paul finished with 34 points and 11 assists inside EnergySolutions Arena in Salt Lake City.  Los Angeles is 2-0 ATS this season as a home favorite of three points or less.

The Clippers know they are up against a difficult task tonight, after winning three games in four nights and taking on one of the best teams in the league.  “I mean, we’re tired, but we have another game,” stated Clippers head coach Vinny Del Negro after last night’s win.  “We’re going to have to come with energy.”  Forward Caron Butler sat out Wednesday’s game with back tightness, as his return to the court could provide a lift, as he’s currently listed as questionable on the injury report.

Bettors will likely back the Nuggets due to their 17-4 ATS mark as a road underdog, while the favorite is 1-5 ATS in the last six meetings in this series.
