The San Francisco 49ers lead the NFL in allowing just 14.2 points per game

San Francisco has won three of its last four games, including a 27-13 victory over the Miami Dolphins as 10.5-point home favorites, while going OVER the total for the fourth time in five contests.  The 49ers can wrap up the NFC West division with a victory and a loss by the Seattle Seahawks against the Buffalo Bills.  The franchise has gone 10-4 on the road under second-year head coach Jim Harbaugh, which makes it a dangerous underdog when looking over the pro football odds page.

The 49ers will be led offensively by second-year quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who threw for 185 yards last week and ranks third at the position with 351 rushing yards.  San Francisco ranks 13th in the league in scoring 24.3 points per game, but the stop unit leads all teams in surrendering just 14.2.  In 2012, the team has tallied a plus-six turnover differential, but it’s still important to note that it’s nowhere near its finishing total of plus-28 in that category a season ago.

New England is set for another primetime contest after embarrassing the Houston Texans on Monday Night Football last week, as it now seeks to extend its current win streak to eight games.  The Patriots have covered the spread in four of those seven games, while the OVER is 6-1 in that stretch.  Last year’s AFC champions have won 10 regular-season games in 10 consecutive seasons, which can’t be ignored when making your NFL picks against the spread in Week 15.

The Patriots have tallied an 18-3 home record against NFC opponents since 2002, while they’ve averaged 27.6 points per game in 86 home game during that span.  New England owns a winning 18-15 mark when playing on Sunday Night Football, which should improve due to its 21-1 record at Gillette Stadium in the month of December.

Sports bettors will likely back the 49ers due to their 22-9-1 ATS mark in their last 32 games, while the Patriots are 1-4 ATS after allowing 15 or less points.
