The Seahawks are huge favorites against the rival 49ers Sunday in a must win for both teams.

After a sluggish 3-3 start, the defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks have won 6 of their last 7 games including 3 straight to improve to 9-4. The Seahawks are just a game and a half back of the 11-3 Arizona Cardinals in the NFC West. Seattle is also tied with the Detroit Lions and Dallas Cowboys for the two wild card spots in the NFC playoffs. The Seahawks look to continue their hot streak as they host the arch rival San Francisco 49ers Sunday. At 7-6 the 49ers’ playoff chances are on life support. They basically have to win out and get a lot of help. A loss against the Seahawks would almost certainly eliminate them from playoff contention, unless both Dallas and Detroit were to lose out.

Since 2001, Seattle leads the series 15-11 against San Francisco. The Seahawks have won 2 straight games against the 49ers including 23-17 in last year’s NFC Championship game. Seattle dominated the 49ers 19-3 on Thanksgiving night in San Francisco two weeks ago.

San Francisco is coached by Jim Harbaugh. San Francisco is 6-7 ATS and the total is 4-9 this season. The 49ers were 8 point favorites against the Raiders last week and the total was 40.5.

San Francisco is 4-1 ATS after scoring 15 points or less and on fieldturf, 7-2 in week 15, 6-2-1 after accumulating 250 yards or less, 11-4 against teams with winning home records, 12-5 in road games, 26-11-3 after failing to cover, 25-12-2 after a straight up loss, 2-5 overall, 1-4 against teams with winning records, and 1-4 against NFC West teams. The Seahawks have covered the last 6 games against the 49ers and have gone 5-1 in Seattle against San Francisco recently.

Seattle has been a house of horrors for the 49ers recently, but they have to win this game or the season is basically over for San Francisco. The 49ers are huge underdogs on the NFL betting lines   mainly because they struggle on offense. This should be a low scoring game with 2 of the best defenses in the league. I think the Seahawks win but it will be a close game.
