Knicks Celtics NBA Playoffs Game 3 Preview
The New York Knicks haven’t enjoyed their recent visits to the Staples Center

New York had its eight-game winning streak snapped Sunday, as it suffered a 106-100 setback to the Cleveland Cavaliers as 10-point home favorites, while going OVER the betting total for the first time in three contests.  The Knicks have three of five probable starters averaging in double figures, with forward Carmelo Anthony leading the way at 28.1 points a contest, which is important to consider when making your pro basketball picks.  The franchise is 13-20 SU on the road this season, including a 4-6 mark versus Western Conference opponents.  New York is 2-4 SU and 1-5 ATS versus Pacific division foes.

The Knicks have tallied a 6-9 SU record on the front end of back-to-backs during the 2013-14 campaign, which can’t be ignored when looking over the pro basketball odds page.  New York is looking to snap a six-game losing streak in this series when playing inside the Staples Center.  Over its last nine games, the team is outscoring opponents by an average of 12.0 points a contest.

Los Angeles put an end to a four-game losing streak last time out, as it picked up a 103-94 victory over the Orlando Magic as 3.5-point home favorites Sunday, while going UNDER the betting total of 217.  The Lakers are 12-22 SU at home this season, including a 4-10 mark versus Eastern Conference opponents.  Offensively, the squad ranks 12th in the league in averaging 102.0 points per game, but it sits behind 27 teams in second-chance opportunities.  Los Angeles is 0-4 SU and 1-3 ATS as home underdogs of 6.5 to 9 points the last two-plus seasons.

The Lakers dropped a 110-103 decision to the Knicks in the last regular season meeting at Madison Square Garden on Jan. 26, but it’s important to point out that the franchise was finishing its seven-game, 13-day Grammy Trip.  Los Angeles was outrebounded by 10 and allowed 21 second-chance points.

Sports bettors will likely back the Lakers due to the home team covering the number in the last five meetings in this series.
