North Carolina will play its first Atlantic Coast Conference game of the 2013-14 campaign Sunday, as it comes off an 84-51 victory over UNCW as 21-point home favorites last time out.  The Tar Heels have won eight of their last 10 meetings against the Demon Deacons, including their last four, which is important to consider when making your NCAA basketball predictions.  The program has won more games against Wake Forest than any other opponent.  North Carolina is 5-2 SU and 4-3 ATS as road favorites of 3.5 to 6 points the last two-plus seasons.

The Tar Heels are a dominating 53-28 SU on the road in ACC play in 11 seasons under head coach Roy Williams, which can’t be ignored when looking over the NCAA basketball odds page.  North Carolina is shooting just 62.4 percent from the free throw line this season, but it has connected on 71.6 percent of its attempts the last three games.  Point guard Marcus Paige is averaging 35.2 minutes per game this season, which would be the most by any player in the Williams era.

Wake Forest will attempt to bounce back from a 68-53 setback to the Xavier Musketeers as 8.5-point road underdogs last time out, while going UNDER the betting total for a third consecutive contest.  The Demon Deacons are capable of banging on the boards with the Tar Heels, as they lead the ACC and rank 11th nationally in rebounding.  The team possesses the conference’s top rebounder in Devin Thomas.  It’s also important to point out that the squad has won its last 10 games at the Joel Coliseum.  Wake Forest is 5-0 SU and 3-1-1 ATS when playing with seven or more days rest the last two-plus seasons.

The Demon Deacons have a great chance of staying within this number due to Coron Williams’ ability to take care of the basketball, as he’s turned the ball over just four times in 319 minutes on the year.  He is the only player in the ACC to have played at least 250 minutes this season with fewer than 10 turnovers.

Sports bettors will likely back the Demon Deacons due to the underdog being 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings in this series.
