The Louisville Cardinals have won 20 consecutive home games entering tonight's showdown with the Georgetown Hoyas

Georgetown is set to meet up with Louisville for the 12th time and open up Big East Conference play Wednesday night inside the KFC Yum! Center.  The Hoyas have won eight consecutive games since suffering a 67-63 loss to the Kansas Jayhawks as 5.5-point neutral court underdogs on Nov. 21.  It’s been a dominating period, especially over the last four games, winning those by an average of 22.8 points.  Offensively, the team is averaging 76.9 points per game and shooting 48.7 percent from the field, while the defense is limiting opponents to just 57.6 points.  Georgetown is 2-0 ATS as an underdog this year.

The Hoyas have a very youthful roster with 10 freshmen and sophomores making up the bulk of the 13-player roster.  Georgetown ranks fourth in the Big East and 25th nationally in field goal percentage.  Senior guard Jason Clark is certainly the leader when on the court, starting 77 career games with the program and playing in a total of 108 games.  He leads the team in scoring with 15.7 points per game.

Louisville will play its 10th straight home games and its 12-0 start is the best in 37 years.  The Cardinals must focus in on this particular matchup with a weekend showdown against the third-ranked Kentucky Wildcats on the horizon.  “One thing I’ve learned to do with my age, I really don’t look ahead,” stated Cardinals head coach Rick Pitino.  He should have his team’s full attention after a lackluster performance last time out, coming from behind to hand Western Kentucky a 70-60 loss.  Louisville is 4-4 ATS as a favorite this season.

The Cardinals have won 20 consecutive home games, which is the program’s longest such streak since 1966-67.  Louisville has proven victorious in three consecutive conference openers heading into tonight’s contest.  Winning after the Christmas holiday is definitely a tradition around these parts, picking up victories in 17 of 18 games after the Dec. 25 festivities.  Louisville trails 4-7 in its series with Georgetown that began in 1948, splitting the last four meetings.  Four of those contests have been decided by four points or less.  Senior forward Kyle Kuric leads the five starters in scoring 13.3 points per game, while center Gorgui Dieng is grabbing 10.2 boards a game.

Bettors will likely back the Hoyas due to their 6-2 ATS mark as a road underdog of 6.5 points or less, while the Cardinals are 0-3-1 ATS as a home favorite.
