The Cincinnati Bearcats will be dealing with numerous suspensions Wednesday night

Cincinnati will be dealing with some suspensions off its 76-53 loss to Xavier last time out, as Yancy Gates, Octavius Ellis and Cheikh Mbodj were each suspended six games, while Ge’Lawn Guyn will miss a single contest.  The Bearcats led the Big East Conference in scoring defense a year ago, allowing 59.6 points per game, but that number is even lower at 55.6 through eight games during the 2011-12 campaign.  It’s important to note that its non-conference schedule isn’t exactly the Big East.  Cincinnati is 16-20 ATS as a favorite over the last two-plus seasons.

The Bearcats and Raiders have played one common opponent this year, both handing Miami (Ohio) a defeat.  Cincinnati is 7-0 all-time against Wright State, but all seven of those were played in Cincinnati, including a 77-69 victory last year as 11-point home favorites.  The four suspended players combined to account for 34.8 percent of the team’s rebounding and 31.3 percent of the team’s scoring.  Redshirt-sophomore guard Sean Kilpatrick will need to step it up on the floor, as he leads the entire roster in averaging 14.5 points per game, scoring in double figures in seven of eight games.

Wright State has alternated wins and losses over its last four games, picking up a 51-49 win over the Miami (OH) RedHawks as six-point road underdogs last time out.  It served as the team’s first road win over the season and the program will now play four straight non-conference home games.  The Raiders are led in scoring by junior guard Julis Mays, who is averaging 10.2 points per game, leading the team in making 13 shots from beyond the arc.  Wright State is 3-4 ATS on the season and the ‘under’ is 4-3 in those contests.

The Raiders possess a very youthful roster with 11 of 15 players being freshmen or sophomores, as the team is coming off a 19-14 season from a year ago.  Wright State is allowing 60.0 points per game and allowing opponents to shoot 42.7 percent from the field.  Those particular numbers drop when playing at home, giving up 54.0 points and holding opponents to 40.6 percent shooting from the floor.

Bettors will likely back the Bearcats due to their 4-1 ATS mark as a road favorite of 6.5 points or less, while the Raiders are 1-5-1 ATS after picking up a straight-up victory.
