The San Diego State Aztecs have been on quite a run against Pac-12 Conference foes

Arizona is set to appear in the championship game of the 2012 Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic, as it comes off an impressive 69-50 win over the Miami Hurricanes Sunday.  “We can always get better,” stated Wildcats guard Mark Lyons.  “We’re jelling real well together.”  The program is 19-9 all-time when playing in Hawaii, as it looks to improve upon its 23-14 ATS record in non-conference play since 2010.  Arizona 0-3 ATS as a neutral court favorite of 3.5 to 6 points the last two-plus seasons, which can’t be ignored when making your NCAA basketball picks on Christmas Day.

The Wildcats have three players averaging in double figures, with Lyons leading the way in scoring 13.8 points per game.  Arizona has compiled a losing 4-7 record against nationally ranked opponents under head coach Sean Miller since he arrived in Tuscon, something to consider when looking over the college basketball odds page.  On the defensive end, the team has held eight of its 11 opponents to less than 60 points.

San Diego State hasn’t lost since suffering a season-opening defeat to the Syracuse Orange, as it comes off a 62-55 win over the Indiana State Sycamores as 9.5-point neutral site favorites.  The Aztecs were led by star player Jamaal Franklin, who scored 19 points and grabbed 15 rebounds, as he’s put up a double-digit figure in points in 32 consecutive games.  San Diego State is 33-16 ATS when playing a team with a winning record over the last two-plus seasons.

The Aztecs have won their last 11 games versus Pac-12 Conference opponents, which fits nicely with the 16-6 ATS record when playing teams that allow 64 or less points since 2010.  San Diego State is looking to capture its fourth straight multi-team in-season-seven championship, which makes them a dangerous underdog in this spot.  The program has won 24 straight December games—a statistic that signals that it could win its third consecutive game in this series.

Sports bettors will likely back the Aztecs due to their 4-0 ATS mark versus Pac-12 foes, while the Wildcats are 0-5 ATS versus Mountain West Conference teams.
