NBA Free Picks: Charlotte Bobcats vs. Cleveland Cavaliers

Diaw has been Triple Double Diaw, minus the Triple Doubles.
Charlotte Bobcats vs. Cleveland Cavaliers
Tip off: 7:05 PM EST
Spread: CLE -4
Total: 189
M/L: CLE -175, CHA +155

The Cavs have begun the season by splitting four games with four pretty bad opponents. Indiana may be the exception, but they lost to the Pacers, as well as the Raptors, while defeating both Detroit and New Jersey. In the win over the Nets, Antawn Jamison went 10 of 15 from the floor and finished with an amazing +22 +/-, as he scored 23. Daniel “Boobie” Gibson chipped in 19 off the bench, drilling 5 of 7 from behind the arc.

The Bobcats won opening night over the Bucks and have not won since, dropping contests to Miami, Orlando, and Miami a second time — badly. In Sunday night’s affair, they gave up 129 points to the Heat, while only managing to score 90 themselves. D.J. White was impressive in the loss, going 10 of 12 from the floor and scoring a team high 21 points. The Bobcats have been fortunate to have had the stellar play of Boris Diaw, who is looking like a very poor man’s Magic Johnson this season and has just missed out on two triple doubles.

Charlotte Bobcats Betting Trends:

The Bobcats are 3-9 SU in their last 12 games and the total ahs gone OVER in 6 of their last 9 games. The total has gone UNDER In 10 of their last 14 on the road and they are 1-4 SU in their last 5 road games.

Cleveland Cavs Betting Trends:

The Cavs are 4-2 SU in their last 6 games and the total has gnoe UNDER in 7 of their last 10 games. The Cavs are 8-17 SU in their last 25 at home and they are 4-2 SU in their last 6 at home.

Key Matchup:

Kyrie Irving vs. D.J. Augustin

Both diminutive point guards are adept scorers, but Irving is proving himself to be a much better distributor than most anticipated he would be. It’s weird to see a guy that only played 11 games at Duke make such a smooth transition as a 19 year old pro, but it is clear Irving has “special” written all over him. So far, he has posted 13.3 points per game and 5.5 assists per night. His shot selectino could use some improvement; he is shooting under 40% from the floor, but it is an encouraging start to the season. Augustin’s stat line is very comparable, with 14.3 ppg and 6.3 apg, while also shooting an ugly 36.7%. Really, we hope better for Irving than what has become of D.J. Augustin in his first 4 seasons in the NBA.
