Texas has alternated wins and losses over its last four games, as it looks to bounce back from a 17-5 blowout defeat to Boston as +130 road underdogs Tuesday, while going OVER the total for the first time in four contests.  “We’ll shake this off, come back tomorrow and try to put it together again,” commented Rangers outfielder Nelson Cruz.  Third baseman Adrian Beltre hasn’t played since Saturday because of a strained left hamstring, and his status for the remainder of the road trip is in question.  Texas is 4-3 as road underdogs of +100 to +125, with the UNDER going 4-2-1 in that situation.

Rangers starting pitcher Alexi Ogando (4-2, 3.08 ERA) will make his first start since May 15, as he returns from the 15-day disabled list with a right biceps injury.  The right-hander earned a 6-2 road victory over the Oakland Athletics in his last effort, allowing two runs and four hits over six strong innings.  He has compiled a 2-2 record and 3.52 ERA in seven road appearances, issuing 14 walks and striking out 31 batters in 38.1 combined frames.  In nine career games versus the Red Sox, Ogando is 2-2 with a 3.93 ERA.

Boston has won three games in a row by plating 31 combined runs, while going OVER the total in two of those contests.  “The dugout has been in a good mood,” commented Daniel Nava.  The Red Sox scored in each of the first seven innings last night, while piling up 13 extra-base hits, which ended up setting a Rangers record for most allowed in a single game.  Boston is 10-8 at home when the total is 9 to 9.5, with the OVER going 9-7-2 in that situation.

Red Sox starting pitcher John Lackey (3-5, 2.96 ERA) suffered a 4-3 road defeat to the Philadelphia Phillies in his last outing, as he allowed three runs and six hits over six frames.  The right-hander has gone 2-1 with a 0.90 ERA in three home starts, with opposing hitters batting .181 against him.  In 37 career games versus the Rangers, Lackey has tallied a losing 12-15 record and 6.14 ERA, including a 5-1 setback on the road on May 4, as he surrendered three runs and six hits over five innings.

Sports bettors will likely back the Red Sox due to their 17-5 record in their last 22 games as favorites of -110 to -150.
