Kyle Parker and the Clemson Tigers are 3 point home underdogs to the Hurricanes

Miami is ready to play its third straight road game on Saturday and visit Clemson in the Atlanta Coast Conference season opener for both teams.  The Hurricanes have already played at No. 2 Ohio State and at Pittsburgh this season and have gone 1-1 in those contests, falling by 12 to the Buckeyes and crushing the Panthers by 28.  The team leads the all-time series with Clemson, 5-3, while the last three meetings have all gone to overtime and have been decided by a combined 15 points.  Head coach Randy Shannon is in his fourth season as head coach and owns an overall record of 23-18.  Miami is 14-13 ATS over the last three seasons and the total is 12-14 O/U in those  games.

The line on this game has been bouncing from +3 to +3.5 all week.  If you are going to place a wager on this game I would recommend viewing our college football odds page so that you can compare odds from multiple sportsbooks making sure you get the best number out there.

The Hurricanes are led by a defense that currently leads the country in tackles for loss per game with a 11.3 average.  Miami leads the ACC in total defense, holding its opposition to an average of 252 yards per game and ranks second in scoring defense holding opponents to 13.0 points per game.  The team was especially pleased with its effort in the 31-3 victory over Pitt.  “Best we’ve played in a while,” defensive linemen Allen Bailey said.  “Everybody’s flying around.”  Offensively, the team is averaging 33.3 points per game and 368.3 yards per game.  Quarterback Jacory Harris bounced back from throwing four interceptions against the Buckeyes with two touchdowns against the Panthers.  The squad is 5-4 ATS as a road favorite in its last nine chances and 6-10 ATS versus conference opponents.

Clemson holds a 2-1 advantage in the last three games played in this series, as the road team has proven victorious in each game.  The Tigers are eager to bounce back from a disappointing 27-24 overtime loss on the road to Auburn.  “I’m more encouraged than discouraged right now,” head coach Dabo Swinney stated.  “I do think we have the personel and the chemistry on this team to really be a good football team.”  This is the latest start to the ACC schedule for the team since 1982.  The Miami game will be the first of eight straight conference games on eight straight Saturdays.  Entering this game, both teams are ranked in the top 10 in the nation in sacks and tackles for loss.  Clemson is 3-2 ATS in its last five games following a bye week.

The Tigers bye week came at the perfect time with quarterback Kyle Parker suffering through back soreness following the Auburn contest.  He will rely heavily on handing the ball off to running back Andre Ellington, who is averaging 7.4 yards per carry in replacing star C.J. Spiller.  Ellington may find the going tough against a defense that recently held Pitt star Dion Lewis to 41 yards on 12 carries.  Under Swinney, Clemson has produced a solid 10-2 straight-up record at home, with the only losses coming against Georgia Tech in his first game as head coach and a 14-10 defeat to No. 15 TCU last year.  The Tigers have won six straight at home and five in a row at Frank Howard Field during conference play.

Bettors will certainly note the Hurricanes dismal 12-25-1 ATS mark as a favorite, while the Tigers are 1-4 ATS in their last five home games.

We have no opinion in this  game, taking small road favorites has never been the best play in college football but with that being said Clemson does look a little overvalued in our eyes.  With no great situations and no line value this game is better off just left alone and watched for enjoyment purposes in our opinion.  With that being said we do have 7 strong college football picks on tap for Saturday.  We are currently on a 71% college football pick run and expect to keep the streak going this week.  Dont miss one more winner from our experts and visit the NCAA football picks page to get signed up today.
