The Los Angeles Clippers won three of four meetings with the Portland Trail Blazers last year

Los Angeles snapped a two-game losing streak by picking up a 106-84 victory over the San Antonio Spurs as 1.5-point home underdogs, while going UNDER the total for the first time in four games this year.  The Clippers are fourth in the NBA in averaging 104.6 points per game, while they are forcing 18.8 turnovers per game.  “We were so successful Wednesday because of our defense,” commented Clippers point guard Chris Paul.  Los Angeles is 3-0 ATS off an upset win by 10 points or more as a home underdog, with the OVER going 3-1 in that situation.

The Clippers snapped a six-game road losing streak to the Trail Blazers with a 74-71 victory on Feb. 16 of last season, but it’s important to note that they lost those previous contests by an average of 14.5 points per game.  Los Angeles was led by power forward Blake Griffin’s 22 points and 10 rebounds last night, as it out-rebounded San Antonio by a 46-29 margin.

Portland has alternated wins and losses over its first four games of the season, as it returns home off a three-game road trip, which included a 114-91 setback to the Dallas Mavericks as four-point underdogs last time out.  The Blazers shot just 38.7 percent from the field in that contest, with rookie point guard Damian Lillard being held to 13 points on 2-of-13 shooting from the field.  “He missed some open looks that he’s been making,” stated Trail Blazers coach Terry Stotts.  Portland is 5-11 ATS when playing on two days rest since 2010.

The Trail Blazers dropped three of four games against the Clippers last year, losing the season series for the first time since the 2006-07 campaign.  Portland has an 82.8 percent winning percentage in this series when playing at home, which is the second highest win percentage for the franchise in front of its home fans all-time.  The team has played in front of a sold out Rose Garden in 193 straight games.

Sports bettors will likely back the Clippers due to their 5-0 ATS mark versus Northwest division opponents, while the underdog is 1-6 ATS in the last seven meetings in this series.
