The Green Bay Packers are 0-3 all-time when playing in Indianapolis

Green Bay evened up its record at 2-2 with last week’s 28-27 win over the New Orleans Saints as 7.5-point home favorites, but will now try and win its first-ever game in Indianapolis.  The Packers have lost all three previous visits to the city, including a 45-31 loss as 6.5-point road underdogs on Sept. 26, 2004.  Quarterback Aaron Rodgers is starting to come around after a sluggish start, throwing for a season high 319 yards and four touchdowns against the Saints.  Green Bay is 4-2 ATS as a road favorite of 3.5 to 7 points the last two-plus seasons, something to consider when making your pro football predictions.

The Packers have won 10 of their last 12 games away from Lambeau Field, which includes the playoffs, but suffered a 14-12 setback to the Seattle Seahawks in a controversial ending in their first try in 2012.  Rodgers has played a major part in this success, ranking second behind only New England’s Tom Brady (101.4) with a 99.3 passer rating away from home since the 2008 campaign.  He finished with an astounding 117.5 mark a year ago in that situation.

Indianapolis comes of its bye week and will certainly be challenged, as its first-year head coach Chuck Pagano was just diagnosed with a form of leukemia.  “I think short of death, this is the worst type of news you want to hear,” stated Colts rookie quarterback Andrew Luck.  The Colts will be led by offensive coordinator Bruce Arians on the sidelines during his time away from the team.  The squad sits 22nd in the NFL in scoring 20.3 points per game, while ranking 24th in allowing 27.7.  Indianapolis is 2-1 ATS as a home underdog of 3.5 to 7 points since 2010, while the UNDER is 3-0 in that role.

The Colts will go as far as Luck is able to take them this year, as he’s managed to complete 65-of-122 passes for 846 yards, while throwing five touchdowns and four interceptions.  Veteran wide receiver Reggie Wayne has been his main target, catching 23 passes for 294 receiving yards.  This particular series is tied 20-20-1, but Sunday’s host holds a 12-8-1 advantage when playing in front of its fan base.

Sports bettors will likely back the Colts due to their 4-0 ATS mark following a straight-up loss, while the Packers are 1-4 ATS versus losing teams.
