The series is tied 1-1 as it shifts back to Boston for Game 3. The Boston Celtics won Game 1 112-90, but then the Milwaukee Bucks won Game 2 123-102. This series’ next close game will be its first one, but there are some meaningful trends that can be extracted from this series through two games. Game 3 sees the Celtics as 1.5-point favorites and the over/under is set at 219 points, a figure that is higher than the Game 1 total of 212 but higher than Game 2’s combined 225 points.

The Milwaukee Bucks do have something of a Big Three, and it showed in Game 2. Eric Bledsoe, Khris Middleton, and Giannis Antetokoumpo combined for 78 points as a trio, with a collective 24 of 45 shooting. The rest of the team scored just 45 points on 15 of 33 shooting. The Bucks shot 44.3 percent from the field and 20 of 47 (42 percent) from three while also holding a +8 advantage in rebounding.

Additionally, Milwaukee was able to limit its turnovers to just 11 while forcing 13 Celtics turnovers. The Bucks led by four at the half, but it used a devastating third quarter defense to outscore Boston 39-18 in the third quarter which set up a meaningless fourth quarter in which reserves saw plenty of court time. If not for that third quarter Celtics meltdown, the game would have been close, but will the blowout trend continue at the TD Garden tonight? Boston is just 1.5-point favorites but no game in this series has been close than 20 points yet.

In the Game 2 loss, Boston shot under 40 percent from the field and got just 17 points from its leading scorer Marcus Morris. Jayson Tatum has been nearly invisible and shot 2 of 10 en route to just five points in 25 minutes of play and a -18 point differential for his court time. The second-year forward from Duke came up huge in the 2018 postseason as a rookie, but he has mostly disappointed thus far despite Boston’s decent success in tying the second round with the No. 1 seeded Bucks. The Bucks have done a tremendous job on Tatum and Kyrie Irving, who shot just 4 of 18 in his own right and managed just 9 points and a -19 point differential for his 31 minutes.
