America East Tournament Preview
The New Mexico Lobos return 66.1 percent of their scoring from a year ago

Davidson begins a stretch of six straight away from home, as it takes part in ESPN’s 24 hours of College Hoops Marathon.  The Wildcats have compiled a dominating 51-29 record in road games since the 2006-07 campaign, but that doesn’t mean they should be one of your college basketball picks on Tuesday, as they’ve gone 8-20 ATS over the last two-plus years in that situation.  Returning all five starters and its top eight scorers and rebounders from a season ago makes this team dangerous.  Davidson is 0-2 ATS as a road underdog of 3.5 to 6 points.

The Wildcats are led by forward De’Mon Brooks offensively, as he was voted Preseason Player of the Year by the Southern Conference’s 12 head coaches.  He led four Davidson players in double figures with 24 points in the team’s 93-67 win over Emory on Friday night.  Davidson has won 19 of its last 23 games dating back to the last game of the 2011 calendar year.

New Mexico returns eight lettermen and three starters from last year’s squad that went 28-7 and advanced to the NCAA Tournament’s third round.  The Lobos return 66.1 percent of their scoring, 56.4 percent of their rebounding and 84.1 percent of their assists from a season ago.  It’s still important to note that leading scorer and rebounder Drew Gordon will certainly be missed.  New Mexico is 34-16 ATS as a favorite since 2010, with the OVER going 25-23 in that situation.

The Lobos have won at least 12 non-conference games in four of their last five seasons under head coach Steve Alford, which includes a 14-2 mark last year.  New Mexico’s returning players have a grand total of 512 games played, with only five foul outs in those contests.  It all starts on the defensive end for this program, as it limited opponents to 59.3 points per game and a .384 field goal percentage a season ago.  The program has won 126 games over the last five years, marking the winningest five-year period in school history.

Sports bettors will likely back the Lobos due to their 10-2 ATS mark in non-conference action, while the Wildcats are 0-4 ATS in that role.
