Iowa is 3-1 SU and 1-3 ATS on the season, as it comes off a 24-20 victory over the Pittsburgh Panthers as 6.5-point road underdogs last Saturday, while going UNDER the betting total for a third consecutive contest.  The Hawkeyes are 35-46-3 all-time in this series, which is important to consider when making your Week 5 college football predictions, but they’ve won three of the last four meetings.  Iowa is 5-2 SU and 2-5 ATS as favorites of 10.5 to 21 points since 2012, with the OVER going 4-2-1 in that situation.

The Hawkeyes quarterback duo of Jake Rudock and C.J. Beathard has combined for a 68.1 completion percentage—the highest percentage in the Big Ten Conference.  Iowa has converted 46.7 percent of its third-down attempts, which is the fourth best mark in that particular conference.  Running back Mark Weisman is on the verge of becoming just the sixth player in school history to surpass 2,000 career rushing yards and 20 career touchdowns.

Purdue is coming off a 35-13 win over Southern Illinois in a game that it led by 25 points at the break, which can’t be ignored when looking over the college football lines page.  The Boilermakers are 50-37-4 SU all-time in Homecoming games, including a 10-2-1 mark when playing Iowa.  It’s important to point out that the squad has six rushing touchdowns already this season—matching last year’s total in that category.  Purdue is 0-12 SU and 2-10 ATS versus teams with a winning record since 2012, with the OVER going 7-5 in those 12 opportunities.

The Boilermakers are averaging 27.2 points per game through their first four contests, which is much higher than their 14.2 mark for the entire 2013 campaign.  Purdue is converting 43 percent of its third downs, which is up from 12 percent a season ago.  It’s important to point out that the squad has captured 12 of its last 17 Big Ten openers.

Sports bettors will likely back the Hawkeyes due to their 7-0 ATS mark in their last seven true road games.
