Wake Forest has split its first two games of the season, as it comes off a 23-7 home victory over Gardner-Webb as 21.5-point home favorites last Saturday, while going UNDER the betting total in each of those contests.  The Demon Deacons got a huge performance out of quarterback John Wolford last time out, which is important to consider when making your Week 3 college football picks, as he completed 30-of-38 passes for 291 yards.  His 78.9 completion percentage is the highest percentage for a true freshman in school history.  Wake Forest is 0-3 SU and 1-2 ATS as underdogs of 10.5 to 21 points the last two-plus seasons.

The Demon Deacons have shut out back-to-back opponents in the first half for the first time since 2004, which can’t be ignored when looking over the college football odds, with junior linebacker Brandon Chubb being the leader defensively.  It’s importantto point out that Wake Forest started the season with 74 of its 105 players as either freshmen or sophomores, which happens to be the third-youngest roster in Division I.

Utah State is 0-3 against current members of the Atlantic Coast Conference, but it has won 26 of its last 35 overall games, with the setbacks coming by a combined 79 points.  The Aggies have forced a turnover in 24 of their last 25 games dating back to the 2012 campaign, while their defense hasn’t allowed a first quarter touchdown in 25 of their last 31 contests.  Utah State is 6-0 SU and 5-1 ATS as favorites of 10.5 to 21 points, with the UNDER going 4-1-1 in that situation.

The Aggies have one of the best dual-threat signal-callers in the country, with senior quarterback Chuckie Keeton being a first-team All-WAC selection as a sophomore in 2012.  Keeton ranks third in school history with 7,460 yards of total offense, while he sits atop the list in completing 65.1 percent of his passes.

Sports bettors will likely back the Aggies due to their 8-1-1 ATS mark in their last 10 September games.
